The Ceremonial Fragrance Vessel is the collection’s most explicitly ritual piece—rooted in the anthropology of scent, offering, and the objects that have long mediated between the everyday and the sacred. Across cultures and throughout history, vessels have held oils, resins and aromatic materials as offerings: placed on thresholds, altars, and domestic surfaces to mark care, welcome, remembrance.
Reimagined for contemporary living, this piece functions as a practical diffuser designed to take fragrance oils and gently disperse them to enrich the atmosphere of a room. A restrained ridge runs through the silhouette like an architectural datum—an organising line that holds the proportions together and gives the form its quiet tension.
Handbuilt by Pascale Zintzen (Oikos Estudio) from Matter Edit’s creative framework and finished with brushed experimental glazes using wild pigments, each vessel is shaped slowly and uniquely. Variations in glaze behaviour and surface texture are expected and celebrated.
